Donatello had been dead 40 years by this point. So you could say he was a leader in Renaissance art. So why do the Ninja Turtles have it backwards?

I was going to say because Donatello is the least famous, and Leonardo was the most, so making him Leader made sense.

 

Though, the missed opportunity to make Leonardo the inventor is a very good point.
