...how the fuck would you transfer the animals anywhere else? Would any sanctuaries take them?

    Yes, sanctuaries and aquariums do take performance animals.  Oregon Coast Aquarium resuscitated Keiko for instance, though releasing him into the wild entirely probably wasn't the best idea.
