I've only had Popeyes once and iirc I wasn't into it, but possibly that's just because it wasn't really what I wanted at the time. (What I wanted was, in fact, KFC. And I was in a generally bad mood, because KFC was closed so I had to walk further to get to Popeyes when I was already kind of in a hurry.)

there's been a trend lately towards marketing fast food chicken as being nothing but the breast meat, meaning it's healthier, no fat/bone/gristle/etc

but chicken is nicest when eaten off the bone imo.

On one hand, I feel this, because it does feel nice.

On the other I think I ultimately prefer them boneless, plus they're easier to eat with a fork that way.

Boneless chicken can be nice, but I definitely prefer them with bones.

I don't think I ever had the old ones, so I can't answer that.

I will say that the selects hadn't been sold in America for quite a few years before they introduced the "new" chicken tenders last year, though.
