i can skim multi-paragraph essays

i can't skim tweets.  i actually have to read them to figure out where the important lines are

i remember we were actually advised against skimming the theory essays we were assigned to read

we were told that if a sentence seems not to make sense, or you find you're reading the words but not taking them in, then go back and read it again
