I'm not sure what quantum encryption is. But quantum key exchange (for conventional cryptography) is real and immune to mitm attacks.

As it happens, the inspiration for this thread was that I was at a talk by one of the inventors of quantum key distribution and at some point in it he said the phrase "quantum crypto is real".
