Legalize Illegality

The only TRUE path to freedom is to make doing illegal things legal, thus breaking the entire criminal justice system and taking down the government once and for all. #Anarchy2020

Haha, my immediate thought was to link to that exact same comic.
  • but:

    either

illegality was legal in the first place, and thus you can't legalize it because it's already legal

    or

legalizing illegal acts causes them to no longer be illegal and thus make it impossible to do illegal acts

which i guess is technically valid

Serious note: I do think it's important for people to be able to do some illegal things without getting caught. They help people decide what should or should not be legal. I'm obviously not talking about things like murder, but weed is a pretty good example.

If no one anywhere had been able to smoke weed illegally, we couldn't have ever had the information and experience we needed to decide that it shouldn't be illegal and that we should try to change the law.

We should designate a city in America where people can freely experiment with nonviolent crimes

they already experiment with nonviolent crimes on a regular basis pretty much everywhere

less so drugs than white collar crime
    (though occasionally the two overlap)

I honestly did not sincerely mean that, but the idea that it might be true is amusing

We should designate a city in America where people can freely experiment with nonviolent crimes

where would it be? I'm wondering if some Rust Belt city would like to be designated as such
