i still feel i don't understand the proper meaning of the term "woke"
aside from "seeing things that other people aren't seeing" which to me simply means "ignore this false positive until it's proven to not be a false positive"

this tweet is unrelated to the first tweet in terms of raw fact, but it carries the same spirit
This is a questionable take for sure but other guy being like "Uh actually the movie is supposed to be about this one thing so it can't also be about another thing" seems like the most boring person to hear movie criticism from.

It's not so much that it's an alternative reading so much as it's a really bad reading that ignores key parts of the text
Well yeah I get that. Her whole series of tweets just kind of reads like she pulled a name for a movie out of a hat and tried to tie it into a thing about colonialism because she just got finished reading about how some other movie is actually about colonialism or whatever and the whole thing is silly.
I think it's just that other person's response reads like "You're wrong because it's meant a different way" as opposed to "You're wrong because absolutely nothing you say is supported in the movie." but maybe I'm just nitpicking or something.
yeah I mean if it were about colonialism then surely the aliens--who are dick-headed parasitic creatures on whom generations of similar alien menaces (the Tyranids, the Zerg, the Flood) are based--would be terrible metaphors for any group of actual people.
the guy in the responses saying "this is a wonderful example of how post-structuralism gives you gibberish" is weird though, since, like, the #take isn't, like, hard to understand or anything.
