I feel like "Meme" is slowly coming to mean "Image Macro"

    I always felt like that was a misuse of the term but I'm fighting a losing battle, just like how the # symbol itself is now called a "hashtag", whether the hash is followed by a tag or not

    Yeah but people actually use the word "meme" to mean image macros now, is the point.

    They also use it to mean the other thing still, though.

    Tumblr memes are often text phrases. An older example is "that sounds fake but ok"
