Maybe the Coastal Elite listen to Serial and that Richard Simmons thing and have to deal with poor improv groups, and alt-bros who flirt with them on trains and ask them to read David Foster Wallace, and evil liberals who love Uber, and don't realize this is not something anyone anywhere else ever encounters.

Upon further thought, dudes approaching ladies who clearly don't want to talk is probably more universal, but dudes at parties telling you about Zizek or Infinite Jest is such a first world problems thing to get annoyed at, and I don't know why there are 300 thinkpieces about it.
