How common knowledge is it that we Americans stole your national anthem to make one of our own patriotic songs

i was aware of this song, but idk how common knowledge it is, a quick survey of my brother, mum and dad revealed that none of them had heard of it

i would assume that internationally "God Save the Queen" was the more famous of the two, but i might be overestimating how familiar the UK national anthem is to people outside the country
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
You know who has a bitchin' national anthem? France.

    *hums*
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
When I think of "God Save the Queen" I think of the Sex Pistols song
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
^^ Apparently the guy who commissioned "La Marseillaise"—the Mayor of Strausbourg, a nobleman who sympathised with the revolutionary cause and was known for his expertise in geology, among other things—was later executed by Robespierre, basically because he was too reasonable and well-liked.

    It's a great tune.
