Times Square

What the fuck is supposed to be appealing about this place? It used to be a crime-ridden shithole and now it looks like fucking spam.

  • i dunno either

it's also frickin impossible to find a bathroom there too
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
It used to be the nexus of all of the city's seediest stores and porno cinemas, and thus was the abode of all sorts of strange people.

I am reminded of the We Hate Movies bit about how you should never, ever sit down to eat in a deli at Times Square.

One of the guys did it once, and he was ten feet away from a bunch of homeless guys trading pornography.
  • Is it just me or does anyone else not really care that the deli has a bunch of homeless guys trading pornography?

Unless they're obnoxiously loud about it of course.

It was specifically in the context of "families vacationing, don't do this"
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
I think that would just amuse me, honestly.

now it looks like something that shouldn't even exist
  • Well main problem these days is that it's just quite crowded with people and traffic.

You can definitely feel the bustle of center-city NYC, and there are tons of advertisements everywhere, but the important thing is that if you know where you need to go, you can easily go through Times Square, and there's a lot of transportation options serving it.

It's not a hugely great place for tourism though.  A few snapshots and that's it.  I guess you could patronize one of the fifty million restaurants in the area if you wanted to.

For a time they had upright pianos placed out in the open, outdoors, for people to do impromptu concerts on them whenever they wanted to.  I appreciated that, even though that didn't exactly do good things to the condition of said pianos, but then again, they were already painted millions of different colors in the first place anyway.
