I like a lot of Disney fairy tale stuff, though admittedly a lot of it has been pretty samey.
I'm just a sucker for fairy tales in general. In fact, I kinda wish other studios did fairy tale movies more often
I'm vaguely interested in Moana because it's drawing on entirely different cultural resources but Disney is just a very "OK" studio, much of the time. Strong quality control, but rarely anything particularly exciting or intriguing. Boring technical perfection, in fewer words.

Yeah... yeah. I very strongly feel this. The films that really lean into cultural stuff, be it mythological or otherwise (I again think of Atlantis as it's essentially my favorite film by them), like with Atlantis and it's solid combination of likable and endearingly expressive - to my memory - characters, strong historical and literary inspirations, and a good execution.
I, personally, struggle to think of even a few of the films that have even two of those components (plus some which I almost certainly left out), and I quite like fairy tales. They're serviceable but flavorless.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
My favorites of theirs are One Hundred and One Dalmatians and Lilo & Stitch, the latter of which was the brainchild of someone John Lasseter pushed out because ???

personally I can't wait for the Lasseter-Catmull regime to tire itself out so we can get some more quasi-experimental stuff like they did in the early 2000s
they have no excuses to revert to being the shambling zombie they were in the '70s and much of the '80s
I watched Zootopia in theaters and never got a single "This is for furries" feel at all. Like isn't most of their most popular characters Bipedal animals? Like I swear I was waiting for Goofy or Donald to pop up there once but I guess they didn't want to disrupt the feel.

Also I'll probably watch Zootopia because I'm furry garbage.
