I wonder how it feels to die like that. Being unfamiliar with the sensation of being boiled alive, nerves still fresh and unaccustomed to pain. I never knew the duck embryo, but I just wonder.
Jason Russell, the Founder of Invisible Children and the director of Kony 2012, was found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars AND possibly under the influence. He was put into a mental hospital.
Yeah, this is probably gonna really hurt the campaign, if not kill it for good.

As we half-jokingly discussed in the main thread, "Invisible Children" probably isn't the greatest charitable organization to be supporting, anyhow.
On the other hand, if they can survive being run shittily (in terms of money actually making it to those the movement is intended to support) , this might not do much.

I think the most damning thing about that video was pointing out that "Invisible Children" isn't about helping children so much as it's about "raising awareness".
Either way I am adamantly against any charities for helping starving children in Africa, only out of hype aversion and because I gain cool points amongst the nerd metacommunity for doing so.
Not only that, pseudoapathy. I know it exists, pay my attention to it, but no amount of worthwhile attention.
The main thing that pisses me off about people supporting said charities is the fact that they throw it in your face.
I mean, I know there are starving children in Africa and I do want to help, but it's when people go "BLUH BLUH YOU EAT FOOD EVERY DAY AND THEY DON'T SO GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY BIPCH" that irritates me.
^^...Where exactly do you get cool points for opposition to aid to starving communities?
Something Awful, GameFAQs, Google, Facebook, Tumblr, ED, SAChan, SWFChan, TV Tropes, 7chan, 4chan, Metapedia, Youtube, Demonoid, BakaBT, Soujin, Crunchyroll, EquestriaDaily, DeviantArt, ArtBistro, Real.fm, and generally every single internet site I've visited, and the high majority of many online games I play with people on.
The amount of irrational sick-minded sharp-tongued pricks outnumber the amount of people who legitimately care about extremely hyped world issues when facing a popular news topic while on the internet, laddie.
Plus everyone is supposed to care about unfortunate countries, which is why cool points are awarded when you don't. Eventually when you get enough cool points, you win notoriety, popularity and indifferessence.
Plus it's a great way to break the ice.

He has been for years, which is partly why Ugandans were less than impressed with the video.
Of course, it's not like the LRA just stopped abducting kids or murdering people after fleeing Uganda, but nobody seems to consider the opinions of people in South Sudan, the Central African Republic or the DR Congo.
Oh hey now I can take advantage of my last post not being here to doublepost!
The cover of the recently-released issue of Gravity, my school's once-a-semester humor magazine, was a parody of a Kony 2012 poster that read "Boloney 2012". Aside from the fact that I've only ever seen the lunchmeat in question spelled as "baloney" or the original "bologna", it was still kind of funny. Especially when I ventured out to the library yesterday, April 21, and found...
...well I thought it was Kony 2012 everywhere. Like, posters. Then I just realized someone had ripped off a bunch of Gravity covers and taped them to everything. I later found out from an acquaintance on staff that it was the magazine staff who did it.
And not a single authentic Kony 2012 anything was to be found! I knew it wouldn't work!
The central graphic on the "Baloney 2012" cover shows that combined-elephant-and-donkey logo thingy from the real Kony 2012 posters basically falling into a meat grinder.
Also, in every issue, the staff listing includes amusing things stuck in the middle of the people's names in quotes, like a nickname. Among some of them this time were "My Little Pony 2012" (person in question is not necessarily a fan though), "Zamboni 2012", and "Forever Aloney 2012".
As for me, I only saw the posters in school, and it was met with either indifference or mockery. I even took the time to vandalize a poster to say "Phony 2012," or in a more petty move, rip them off the walls as I passed by. Nobody took issue with it.
