It felt way easier in Y, for some reason? And I didn't spend too much time with Ruby, but this comes with the caveat that I have to look over my PC again and see if I ever broke that rule
Does anyone know why the Fast Ball in GSC is a pokéball that only gets a 4x bonus on magnemite, grimer, and tangela specifically (and otherwise acts like a regular pokéball), according to Bulbapedia?
Some quick googling says that they do, and they're the first three of a larger list of pokémon that flee, but the programming was bugged so that the bonus only applies to them.
Apparently the Moon Ball had another bug, where the catch rate stayed the same even for mons that used the Moon Stone.
And the Love Ball hates heterosexuality because it only works on same-sex couples.
The status conditions of paralysis, burn, and poison, increase the catch rate by 0 as opposed to by 5.
The Love Ball only gains a catch rate of 8× on Pokémon of the same gender and species as the player's Pokémon, rather than on Pokémon of the opposite gender.
Re catching Lugia -- the catch rate is doubled from 3 to 6 if you use an Ultra Ball, but don't you get a +20 bonus for using a Heavy Ball? Lugia is heavy enough. (Ho-oh isn't, though.)
What choices are there in a normal single playthrough of Crystal/gen 2?
Like, in gen 1, there were the following choices: 1. starter (choose three of nine) 2. hitmon (choose one of two) 3. eeveelution (choose one of three) 4. fossil (choose two of four)
The new breeding mechanic means that there's no more eeveelution limit in gen 2, and the hitmons can all be bred starting with Tyrogue.
(The Emu Edition of Crystal has all starters (both gens) and the two fossil base evols catchable.)
Does Gen 2 have anything else I should be aware of?
Number of gymleaders who've kicked my ass: 3 of 4 so far
(Faulkner didn't, but my ass just got kicked by Morty, or rather his Gengar)
This is because I knew about Shadow Ball but forgot about Hypnosis + Dream Eater. I feel so dumb now because I know all too well that the Gastly family's movepool in gen 1 is Lick, Confuse Ray, Night Shade, Hypnosis, Dream Eater. I'd have to find a self-cure for sleep, or buy a truckload of Awakenings and hope that Hypnosis fails enough times to get damage through.
I guess Hypnosis was just too successful this time. Should only work 60% of the time, but that's still going to be challenging to work with because Gengar is guaranteed to outspeed everything I have.
Mega Evolving has priority over everything except switching out, unless you use Pursuit, in which case you'll evolve, Pursuit, then the switch happens.
So this is gonna be like Cubone wearing its dead mother's skull or something. That Pokemon just walks around with a fucking dead Pikachu like Weekend at Bernie's.

I don't think so, it's not included in other art of the same Pokémon.

Catch rate
The status conditions of paralysis, burn, and poison, increase the catch rate by 0 as opposed to by 5.
The Love Ball only gains a catch rate of 8× on Pokémon of the same gender and species as the player's Pokémon, rather than on Pokémon of the opposite gender.
The Moon Ball is supposed to multiply the catch rate by 4 on Pokémon that evolve with Moon Stone but instead does this on Pokémon that evolve with Burn Heal. Subsequently, Moon Ball does not have any additional effect and always acts like a Poké Ball.
The Fast Ball only quadruples the catch rate against the first three of all fleeing Pokémon: Magnemite, Grimer, and Tangela.

Edit: Wait, I DO have a Mint Berry!...
And I like how people are getting some exercise and meeting new people. Even those who don't care about Pokémon have Pokémon Go.
warning: actually pretty interesting
Thank you.
THESE TWO ARE SO GOOD.
