So Gunnerkrigg Court just uploaded a previously paper-only story called Traveller, focusing on Paz. It's got some really gorgeous art. Plus, Siddell just popped into the SA thread to clarify (big spoiler) the dog doesn't die which honestly makes me like the story a lot more.
Demon's over, and it ended with Jimmy (maybe) killing everyone, or at least everyone with a conscience, as a thoughtless side effect of his war with Hunter.
Which really sums up the whole comic. Or at least it would if semen was involved somehow.
So, Kelly Turnbull aka Coelasquid, writer for Manly Guys Doing Manly Things, due to a series of mishaps, has had to continue her career as webcomicker and storyboard artist with thyroid cancer, temporary nerve damage and a bunch of torn muscles.
Sonnuva gun, she's cool for continuing through all of this
So. I found a new web-comic. It's basically a LoZ fanfic where Zelda takes a page out of Medieval History and stages a political marriage with Ganondorf to stop the war between their kingdoms.
The art's this gorgeous chiaroscuro-type monochrome, and the writing's pretty good.
Cochlea & Eustachia is worth reading if you are a fan of the utterly inexplicable.
But it's worth forewarning a couple things. One, the main characters are more or less naked at all times (which is why I'm not linking it here), and two, the second story arc (of three) is just straight-up porn, albeit very very weird porn.
Before I read C&E, I didn't know people had a fetish for creating dozens of clones of themselves and then killing them in gory fashion while fucking a pterodactyl man, but now I do!
That aside it's so utterly bizarre that it's worth a read anyway I think. Depends on what you can stomach of course.
I want to, but my wife is against it. The day I put it out to Facebook was the same day Jimmy and Hunter were having their naked sex fight in the webcomic. So that didn’t help. In my defense, however, I want to say the cum shank sequence was very tastefully done. You never actually see Jimmy ejaculate. It’s all done off-camera, through implication.
Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
I feel like Cucumber Quest has the best tone work I've ever seen thus far, and that's because it fights and works uphill to make you feel bad and when you get to the top it's just more bad feelings.
The uphill is created by low stakes and jokes but the engine is made of emotion reinforced with verisimilitude.
tbh idk why xkcd is the only gag strip i've managed to follow consistently for any length of time
i don't even find it funny a lot of the time, but i always check it, while somehow i invariably forget to check other comics that use the standalone gag format and fall out of the habit of reading them
now, you're probably wondering: "what was the joke was in the most recent xkcd?"
it is primarily a substitution joke, the record scratch makes you think you're about to get an explanation of what just happened, but actually you get an entirely different explanation, which is yet another joke, this one being a self-referential running gag thing.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Randall does realize that vinyls still exist, surely?
Honestly it just makes me think of the time Stuart Ashen fast-forwarded a tape on video and young kids in the comments were impressed because they'd never heard a real tape fast-forward before and were only familiar with the squealy noise from cartoons

Octopus Pie made an Everett True joke in 2007. We are so late to that dank meme train.

It is indeed very cute and very queer.
Also: "We don't f–frick!" "Splitting hairs."
*sigh*
At least I have something to look forward to!

this was still the best in that vein, though
