if It wasn't for him, I might have Polio, and worse, I might have had to PONY up a shitload of money to get it cured, if it was not for him. Thank you Jonas Salk, for being awesome, and distributing the Polio vaccine for free.

I also want to thank Edward Jenners too for aiding in the annihilation of the thing known as Smallpox.

It's pretty hard to understate the scope of their achievements. Even though Guns, Germs and Steel kinda killed for me the idea of individual genius being as meaningful as people say, they are the ones who accomplished it and that deserves accolades.

Good to hear you benefited directly from Salk; I'm sure all of us have indirectly benefited.

I personally would like to thank Ignaz Semmelweis for telling his co-workers to wash their hands before seeing patients. Even though they didn't listen because they were convinced that true gentlemen never have to wash their hands just because. Sometimes, it's good to make sure that people remember basic safety (and hygiene).
