"I listen to electronic stuff, mostly rave, maybe Metallica and what not, what about you?"
[looks on my iPod]

I need like, good mainstream music to put on my iPod besides like, Adele and Strapping Young Lad, so I can actually describe what I listen to. When people ask me this question I feel stupid because how do I describe what I listen to?
in other words, what kind of music do YOU listen to Heapers, and do you have any recommendations?

When people ask me that question, I say death metal. Which actually comprises only a small part of my musical diet, but it shuts them up.
It's hard to go wrong with anything from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Their stuff runs the gamut from love songs to nonsense to Nick Cave claiming to be a 12-year-old girl who foams at the mouth. Murder Ballads is my favorite album of theirs (and "O'Malley's Bar" out of that).

We generally have one musician that we listen to for either a day or a week.
For this week, that musician is Jon Coulton
As for what I do plunder and occasionally buy, I mainly listen to that crappy electronic dance music that hipsters sneer at and various different forms of rock.
electropop, rap, a little bit of hip hop, quite a bit of R&B, drum n' bass (a new one), indie rock, pop rock, electronic rock, prog, electronic, punk, soul, britpop, power pop, trance, dance, movie scores and a little bit of video game music.
