  My personal recommendations (or some of them): Animals as Leaders, Black Tide, Born of Osiris, Coheed and Cambria, A Day to Remember, Fightstar, Lostprophets, Mastodon, Pig Destroyer, Protest the Hero, Rise Against, and Sleeping with Sirens.

  
  

  As a generality, I listen to hardcore, or at least, many of its offshoots and combinations with metal, prog metal, and some alt rock, I guess.

  It's hard to go wrong with anything from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Their stuff runs the gamut from love songs to nonsense to Nick Cave claiming to be a 12-year-old girl who foams at the mouth. Murder Ballads is my favorite album of theirs (and "O'Malley's Bar" out of that).

  Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."

  Mostly video game music and TV show theme songs, really. Yes, I know, I'm horribly deprived of music.

  I'm weird. I don't really listen to the Homestuck music because 1) it's too expensive and 2) I don't want to plunder it. But I might have liked it otherwise.
  
  As for what I do plunder and occasionally buy, I mainly listen to that crappy electronic dance music that hipsters sneer at and various different forms of rock.
  
  electropop, rap, a little bit of hip hop, quite a bit of R&B, drum n' bass (a new one), indie rock, pop rock, electronic rock, prog, electronic, punk, soul, britpop, power pop, trance, dance, movie scores and a little bit of video game music.
