  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Disney would never do this with anything else of theirs
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
You say that, but you know they would. If they felt they needed it, they would.
  • ^^ Kingdom Hearts.

the part that was not necessary

I'll be honest my thoughts with regards to that are "GTFO the Disneyverse you anime bastard"

Also I'm a bit envious that Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera's brainwashmarketing have never been as effective, so we don't have like the Looney Tunes or H-B version of KH where Huckleberry Hound valiantly sacrifices himself and fake-dies for the good of his comrades or something
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
a video called "goofy dies" is too tempting to resist

    YEAH SUCK IT
  • but is it...a goofy death?
  • *runs off the stage before tomatoes get close*
  • Man, Kingdom Hearts at this point is largely independent of Disney. Disney just brings kids in and adds a few side-characters.

I'm a large talking anime mouse and I don't need no disney ~ Mickey.

    But they still did it.
  • Sup bitches, witches, Haters, and trolls.
didn't kingdom hearts happen because a disney executive and a squareenix executive met in a goddamn elevator
  • ...And even when your hope is gone
move along, move along, just to make it through
    (2015 self)
I liked kingdom hearts and enjoyed it a ton.

Normally I'd drop in with an "It was heartbreaking in context!" but no this was, is, and always will be stupid
  • oh ok

i put the warning on the thread because i was worried that it'd upset you >_>
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    >there will never be a Hanna-Barbera Kingdom Hearts where Huck fake-dies after a valiant sacrifice
  • Would you honestly expect me to avoid it even if it was something I disagreed with though

Honestly I absolutely adore the series but it is also has a multitude of deep tissue flaws (needless complexity undermining basic drama, weightless conflicts, reductive character-charting making the massive universe feel tiny and restricted) and easily mockable moments (such as the above) that I absolutely recognize.

I'm always a bit averse to "easily mocked" moments because so often they rely on the viewer starting to watch something under the pretense that they're above it, but Mickey freaking Mouse in a black coat (which is already silly but sometimes it's more acceptable than others) going grimdark because Goofy was seemingly killed (a death that came out of absolutely nowhere and served no dramatic purpose and lasted for all of five minutes) is just, like, c'mon
  • We can do anything if we do it together.

I don't usually go all Naney, but...

Why would you want there to be?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
because the idea of Huck and pals being cast in a "serious" light amuses me
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
though I would be very sad to see Yogi and Quick Draw and Mr. Jinks huddled over Huck's "dead" body

@kex no i meant that like it could make you feel nostalgic or sad or something not that you'd disagree with me or anything

^^ I'll concede that it is an amusing thought, but it really wouldn't be worth actually playing the game for.

    Oooooh

yeah my nostalgia works in weirdass ways

at any rate it's never really anyone's fault, and it's not necessarily something I try to avoid. It just sometimes makes me get weird and stupid.

Actually like this is the thing I love best about Kingdom Hearts.

Like, hearts or shadows or thirteen or whatever, no. Mickey Mouse in a black coat, with a hood. That is the best thing.

    Character Charting?
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
they should've left Goofy dead, it would've had more impact.
  • kill living beings
    goofy/huck otp
  • The way no character seems to have an origin independent of each other. Like there's some big chart or something that was drawn up to connect them.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
