Zynga losing money means that Zynga's current model is not working. Seeing that Zynga's current model is based on treating consumers like mindless drones, this could be a good thing. Keep other companies from jumping on the bandwagon
Unemployment, of course, sucks, but the newly unemployed will have the pleasure of not being a part of Zynga.
Zynga is a gaming company (partnered with Facebook) mostly known for ripping off other peoples' games and then tacking on some sort of superficial "social" element to them. They're one of the worst companies in gaming, if not the worst. They also usually have MMO-style subscriptions and such, often without any of the substance a good MMO might have (not that MMOs usually have substance anyway).
Most of their games also come with lots of lovely sneakware, like useless toolbars and screensavers.

I admit, I play Words with Friends regularly. It's a blatant ripoff of Scrabble, yes, but from what I've seen it's actually better than Hasbro's official Scrabble app.
And they're not really comparable anyway. Zynga is a company, Origin is a service in the same vein as Steam or Desura, except way, way worse than either of those (and how fucking hard do you have to be trying to be worse than Desura, seriously).
honestly, I just attempt to avoid Origin as much as possible by sticking with the console versions of EA products (and I've been pretty successful too, considering their terrible Mac support)
the same applies for uPlay and Ubisoft's messy DRM (they don't even make anything for the Mac, except Prince of Persia '08 and maybe one of the Assassin's Creeds)
Also, while we're on the topic, anyone here used GOG? I might try it sometime if I'm able to catch a sale.

I've bought a couple things from GOG. It's pretty straightforward, really...it's not like Steam where there's a client you have to install and log in to; you just buy something on the website and download the installer.

GOG is a store though, not a client.
The main advantage is that Steam backs up your games (though not your save files unfortunately) on a cloud so that way if something happens to your computer you can easily get your games back.

If you ripped the "insert money here" roots of Zynga games out, then they would be tolerable.
I like some of their games, if only for the fact that sometimes "click and play" is as simple as I want it, when compared to the immense amount of installation, trouble-shooting and spec-comparing I have to do for others. They're small, you click, you have fun for about 10 minutes until the thing you are waiting for loads.
Like, Slingo. It's Slingo. It may not be Skyrim, but it's Slingo.
Just remove the "you must wait for X to do Y (unless you give us Z, and add W, U, V, T, and S to your friend's list" Then boom, perfect Slingo.
You will find me if you want me in the garden unless its pouring down with rain.
I AM GOING TO BE COMPLETELY SERIOUS
while I don't like the idea of wishing unemployment on someone, I have to say that the management can go fuck itself since their idea was that keeping employee happiness low was better for business and that innovation is also bad for business. Its ultimately what led to their downfall since milking a cow doesn't really work past a certain point.
I think the root of the problem is more that anything f2p is insanely profitable since its so easy to break the game to require many small transactions, leading to users spending a stupid amount of money on either things required to avoid tons of grinding or trivial items.

Companies people aren't buying the products of will go under.
Simple fact of life in a capitalist state.
PopCap is a better company in the same vein and is (as I understand) always hiring. Those people won't have trouble finding jobs for long.Assassin poems, Poems that shoot

My mom plays their poker game a lot. -_-'
Origin > Zynga
mostly because I find Zynga and its brethren to be a plague upon the industry
also they brutally skinned OMGPop, EA has yet to commit such a sin in my eyes
