It was probably at the height of Jim Carey's slap-stick, wacky, adult comedy movies, and I'm guessing it's a type of humor that's no longer my cup-o-tea, but I don't think I'd call it a bad movie.

Actually, "Dumb and Dumber" was probably the peak of the goofy, Jim Carey mountain, this is just pretty high up there.

I honestly don't think I have anything against the guy.

I mean, I think I'd still enjoy a good deal of his movies if I went back and watched them.

The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind are also good movies by most standards, anyhow.

I think I've refined my movie watching palate to the point where it's unlikely Ace Venturea 1 and 2 and Dumb and Dumber would entertain me that much, but I think I'd still like The Mask.

The Truman Show is good, and I have heard a lot of very positive things about Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and some pretty good things about I Love You, Phillip Morris. So the man is capable of producing non-annoying material. But most of his work viscerally annoys me.

He was sort of the fore-front of a form of humor that was mostly funny to young teens who lived in the 90s. His goofy, antics lent themselves well to this sort of humor, but honestly I think he's far funnier when left to his own devices.

Interviews with him are some of the funniest things I've ever seen.

It's been a while since I watched it, but I seem to remember liking it OK.

"The claw" is still something of a running gag with my brother and I.

Liar Liar is notably much more toned down then say, Ace Ventura or Dumb and Dumber.

Eh, I think he's plenty "Jim Carrey" throughout the film. He's just not a characture of himself in this one.

It's probably Truman show and Sunshine of the Spotless Mind where he's REALLY behaving himself.

I did watch the Nostalgia Critic's review of the Grinch movie...I don't think I ever liked it that much, honestly

It seems kind of like Ron Howard directed him to act the way people thought he acted

Honestly my biggest problem with Liar Liar was how little Carrey's character worked.

If he'd just toned himself down it might have been better.

Albeit, I'm pretty much comparing him to Ace Ventura here.

Also the Grinch was just not a good movie. It did have the occasional funny moment that involved the Grinch, but not really enough to save the whole movie.

It drags on, it's not pleasant to look at (muted colors and Dr. Seuss don't mix; Chuck Jones and, yes, Bo Welch got this right, and that saving grace of The Cat in the Hat probably owes to the fact that he's a production designer), and it's overly-cynical

Like, even at the end when the Grinch reforms he still sings the song in this mocking tone of voice

The group is also very 90s centric, and Will Farrel didn't do much noteworthy movies into the the aughties.

In a weird way, Ron Burgundy might make for an appropriate mission control dude as his movie took place in the 80s.
