There's nothing wrong with them, per se.

I guess if anything, they should get credit for making most the characters sound the same as they do in America.

As mentioned, Hank is just sort of "generic Japanese dad voice #2"

No, it actually has some really good satire. It mocks its subjects, but in a respectful way. It's hard to explain. You'd have to watch it.

Yeah, it can be done right, but for someone who doesn't normally like it, such as myself, it has to be done really, really perfectly, and with the right cues. In short it's just not for me, but obviously, YMMV.

I sort of agree with this. I love absurdist comedy and I think that animation can do it just as well, if not better, than most other media. But there is a difference between being enjoyably absurd and pointlessly frenetic.
