I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
The Walmart by my house is, except for the men's bathroom, somehow not fucking disgusting
It has a Subway in it too (one of three Subways within seven minutes of my house, the other two of which are located in Green Valley Ranch Town Center and a strip mall in Aurora)
and, among other things, a Papa Murphy's and a Cost Cutters

Wal-Mart is a very unpleasant place to shop. The employees are OK, but the atmosphere of the store is just soul-crushing, even by big box retailer standards.
The worst thing about the Walmart at Potomac Mills is that it is always crowded. No exceptions. While it's nice that it's a Supercenter now and that it's not as depressing on the inside as it used to be, it's still impossible to find parking there some nights. If I see people circling, I say "fuck it" and go to either the Target across the street, or the bigger Supercenter in Dumfries that has more parking.
Well, it depends on the Walmart, really. A newer one that's been renovated is maybe kind of boring, but I've seen older ones that look as bad as Kmarts or Roses.

The Walmart nearest to us is just groceries and it's a MUCH different experience than a regular Walmart. You just have people shopping for groceries and they don't show up in sweat pants for the most part.
It seems it's people coming in for cheap clothing and what have you that tends to attract the dregs.

The Walmart Supercenter on Taylor Road Extension in Reynoldsburg isn't too bad. It was renovated a couple years back, so it's not very run-down, and its worst crime is that it's generic and dull.
The Walmart Supercenter on Morse Road, however...jesus fuck. It was the first Walmart in the city and boy does it show. I went in there one night after a late night drive, hoping to pick up a drink and some candy, and I had to wait at the checkout 15 minutes, 15 minutes, because they had no self-checkouts open and the one cashier on duty was arguing with some woman in front of me about whether or not her EBT card was valid.
I'm pretty sure the Potomac Mills Walmart was the first one in eastern Prince William (and opened in 1992, just like the Walmart in Manassas did), so aside from being perpetually busy, it was also pretty run-down and cramped. The renovation has certainly made it look better (though I kind of wish they'd gotten rid of the drop ceilings in the older part), but if I go there and can't find parking or have to wait forever in line, it's not worth it.
Walmart clothes are terrible. Only second to Shopko clothes. But, hey, if you wear them, then you're wearing them.
Dat's why I go to thrifts stores. Cuz, I got taste and am alsorather broke to the point I feel Walmart's clothes are too much to spend on just to most likely fall apart soon after /notahipster
Actually, Walmart is best for buying food, some cheap school supplies and occasionally their five dollar movie bin has a good find. But, then, at least where I am, the service is usually mediocre to bad and the checkout machines are constantly breaking.
No, but the brand the tend to use are kinda low-end...
That being said, I do have one short sleeved button up shirt I got form them that looks decent and has lasted OK. So it's not like every cloth item sold there is utter garbage, they're just not usually designed to last as well as clothing you would find at other locations.
True, but like Justice said they tend to be low end. I've only gotten a couple of clothes there and they did not do so well for me. So, maybe it was just my bad luck.
a good percentage of my taxes goes...somewhere. I don't know where, but from what the accountants I've talked to over in Billings, the tax money of a lot of north western residents kind of just...vanishes. Like in 2012, around 3 million dollars was supposed to be used to repair the giant chunks of highway 89 that came out due to snow-plowing trucks ripping it apart, except no work on the road was ever done that year, or even this year. The holes are still there, and have been for a year and two months now.

It probably either got shuffled around or "frozen" because some politician three counties away disputed the usefulness of the project.
The UK has Asda, which are owned by Walmart as a subsidiary. However, the only real mention of Walmart is on the front of the store, as the store is just a typical big modern UK supermarket. Generally, Asda tends to have better employee relations than the US parent, but still drives the "low price" angle, and employees also have to wear horrid lime green uniforms. A couple of the old Asda hypermarkets have been rebranded as Walmart Centres or something similar, but still the name Walmart is relatively obscure in British towns.
Jonquière, Quebec briefly made headlines when the efforts of local Walmart workers to unionize actually prompted the store to pack up and leave, which is actually standard practice for Walmart. It is company policy to liquidate supplies and close the store when there is a tangible risk of unionizing (when a group of Walmart-employed meat-cutters in Texas voted to unionize, Walmart responded by firing every meat-cutter in the country).
...
If this is true, it's appalling.
edit: it is true, and i should have known about this a long time ago if i'd been paying attention.

Why does this idea amuse me so
Walmart is okay for certain items. The fruit and vegetables are pretty subpar, though.
The fact that it is the only place nearby where I can find pork flavor ramen improves my opinion of it though.

Actually I agree, because I can buy ice cream with them, and I love ice cream.
taxes are great when the money collected by them isn't spent on stupid bullshit.
example: a good percentage of my taxes currently go toward funding a fucking hockey arena.
