i just wanna say, as well, that i love things like this
like i worry that this kinda talk sounds silly or pretentious but undertale genuinely makes you think about how you approach conflict in video games and why you do the things you do
like, why *do* you have to grab the axe? she's right, Toad is right there
within the fictional scenario i guess Bowser would come after you, you're not supposed to think he's just this helpless little guy stuck on a bridge or whatever
still though, Undyne battle. you can run away. you only *have* to kill Bowser because that's the only way to advance the game. and because you can. but you can always just quit then and there.
What amazes me is that undertale made us love things we probably wouldn't put up with before. the fonts papyrus and comic sans, that guy who wears shorts a hoodie and sandals regardless of weather, and over-excited webspeak

I think Homestuck already sold most people on the last thing.
As for me, Undertale convinced me that skeletons could actually be funny.

guns. Poems that wrestle cops into alleys
and take their weapons leaving them dead
