"Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..."

Does this ever actually do anything? Most of the time it seems to make no difference and you end up having to restart whatever program anyways.

  • It's usually looking for known software conflicts or missing drivers/codecs.

    Needless to say, most reasons your program will crash have nothing to do with this.  It will often search interminably, to the point of causing a bluescreen.

    I figured it was something like that.

    It's one of those things that's demonstrated itself to be so unreliable that I always just click "Cancel" instead of letting it waste my time.
