Why do people overuse emojis?

Like the Twitter and Google emojis. Their effect is diluted if you use a whole bunch in a row. They are all nice to look at in their own way and ruined by tackiness.

Again, it's a thing that people do that I can probably intellectually understand but find a bit absurd. Generally, it seems to be for emphasis, but still, not a thing I tend to do un-facetiously.

I dislike emojis in general, except when being used to be extra silly. At that point, I think it's fine to excessively use them.

Go big or go home with emojis imho.
