Those of you with gmail accounts, click the link on the Foolhard's Landing heading and ask permission for access, so you can move your character's marker. Those who do not, let me know and send me PMs so I can move your character's markers for me.
In order to see the map, you'll need to give the app permission to access google drive through your account. I will provide maps as they should be seen by players regularly via screenshots.
minor favor: whenever you have time, could you change Hatate's last name to Karasu in the list on the front page? I meant to make that change earlier, but I forgot.
I want to attack the closest enemy. What do I roll?
The turn order is Aya, Hatate, Yoko, then Rinjin. Whe it's Rin's turn, you can make a move action and a standard action (attacking, casting a spell, combat maneuvers). To attack, you roll a D20, then add the relevant bonuses to your attack roll based on what you're attacking with. (In Rin's case, her Katana, a two-handed weapon, adds the normal STR bonus plus another half, rounded down)
So, what you should do if you want to make that attack is use your move action to approach the nearest kobold, roll a d20, then add 4 to your result. I check that against the enemeny's armor class to see if you've hit it, then you roll 1d6 for damage if you did.
Probably, but this DMing thing is still new to me, so it's best that I don't have to worry about surprise rounds for now. You'll have an opportunity soon.
Hesitant about whether or not to use my magic up at the first go.
Color Spray would work very nicely here, but do I really want to waste it on a few bags of bones? Would it even work on the cockroach?
Hint: Color Spray is a mind-affecting spell, and these are undead. It will not work by definition.
As for the knowledge religion checks, here's how identifying monsters works.
Whenever any of you spot a monster, as a free action, you are given a chance to identify it by rolling the relevant knowledge check. For each 5 your total roll exceeds the DC to identify that monster, you get a question about it. These questions can be about defenses, which tells you the immunities of that monster, special abilities, which tells you what abilities the monster may have, or the worst save, which tells you which of the monster's three saving throws are weakest.
Identification rolls cannot be used on unique encounters, but if that encounter has a monster race, you may identify the abilities and defenses for creatures of that race, but not their worst saving throw.
Also, a few of you seem to have mis-input your HP for your first level. You 1st level hit die is always the maximum roll, plus your constitution mod, so to list what your HP should be right now in turn order:
Magic Missile is unerring, if she can target it, it hits.
Fair enough.
Also, you wouldn't happen to know which feat I'd need to take to add my Dex mod to damage rolls, would you?
There are two feats which do that, but they specifically refer to the rapier or scimitar.
Fencing Grace lets you add DEX bonus to damage instead of STR with rapier damage rolls, and has the prerequisites of a DEX score of 13, and the feats Weapon Finesse and Weapon Focus: Rapier
Dervish Dance allows you to do the same for a scimitar, but has the prerequisites of DEX 13, the feat Weapon Finesse, and 2 ranks in the Perform (Dance) skill.
For this campaign, you can also take Wakizashi-ryu, a feat I literally just made up, which allows you DEX bonus to damage. The prerequisites for this feat are a DEX score of 13, Weapon Finesse, and Weapon Focus: Wakizashi.
To be honest, I can think of at least one other combat feat appropriate for the setting, so I'll make a list of custom feats, I guess >_>
EDIT: Pretty important detail I learned. It turns out scimitars aren't normally finesse weapons, and dervish dance lets you apply finesse to scimitars where normally you couldn't in addition to permitting DEX bonus to damage.
Okay, Rinjin's katana should deal 1d8 damage, since she is medium sized, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and add another 1 to your roll. So 4 plus the STR bonus to damage of 4 is 8.
