You use the key to undo the study Dead Bolt. You open the door into the hallway, dark save the light of your lantern. The hall stretches off into darkness in both directions.
Your mini-tablet utters a sonar-like bleep from within your jacket.
The tablet's lock screen has a notification from DeadEye.
"Presence detected."
You open the app and scan the hallway. Then you see it, the faint glowing blue silhouette of a man, pacing the hallway with a tray in his hand. He is dressed in a tailed coat. He does not seem to be heading anywhere, nor behaving with any particular purpose. The faint silhouette merely paces, tracing the same path.
The red trail from your journal leads down the hallway to your right.
The trail leads you down the hallway until you reach a balcony overlooking a foyer. There's a door leading downstairs, but when you try it, it's jammed shut. There doesn't seem to be a lock either. Still, the red trail leads downstairs.
You head back to the door to the study. Looking through the DeadEye, you try to get his attention. Try as you might, he continues to pace the hallway, serving tray in hand.
