It's just really boring and overplayed and the home of the lamest Original Characters Do Not Steal running around in D&D.
I wasn't expecting Spelljammer or Dark Sun, but still.
The first time I heard the name "Spelljammer" I thought it had to do with some sort of anti-magic field or similar thing that caused spells to fizzle or spellcasters to lose concentration.

Well, kind of. It's called that because the equivalent of the warp engine in that setting is a throne which drains all of a wizard's stored magic immediately upon sitting on it, and uses it to power space flight.
