    In 2004, Xplore purchased KUSA from Gannett, making it an NBC owned and operated station. Not long thereafter, the calls were changed to the current KDNV, as the previous callsign was a reference to USA Today. Less than a year later, UPN affiliate KTVD was acquired from Newsweb, creating the Denver market's first duopoly operation
