Of all the Hostess snacks, they always seemed to be the most popular, but they never quite clicked with me. The main cake always seemed a bit too "tough" in texture.
Twinkies are sponge cake, which is a bit tougher than most cakes in general. Hostess cupcakes are flakier, and Little Debbie cakes are practically pure sugar.
I haven't ever been super fond of twinkies, but they have decently tasty filling.
Normally I eat ~75% of the cake first and only leave enough to keep the filling from going everywhere, then have the last couple bites be almost all filling.
I haven't actually eaten a twinkie in years, however.
