Do you identify as a Feminist? If so, why and what does the word mean to you? If not, why not and how would you define the word "Feminist?"
I do not really have a really interesting reason for asking this, but I saw some talk recently about what it means to be a Feminist and whether people should identify as Feminists and I figured it might be worthwhile to ask Heapers what they thought about that.

of course not everybody defines it that way.
i agree that gender stuff is complicated, but equality seems like a good aim to me
more harm is done by opposing feminism than by supporting it, in any case
I'm saying yes because although it's had its problems (and still does) there's still a lot of value in it
That and, well, speaking personally, maybe it's not right for me to call myself a feminist by some definitions, but i've considered myself a feminist since i was very small, and have done all my life, more or less. Feminism makes sense to me, so i feel like for me, being a feminist is an ethical responsibility.
i respect those who feel that feminism is insufficiently intersectional. i feel that as feminism aims to help women, not just white cis women, this is a problem that can and should be addressed from within.
That said, i do wonder whether it's right for me to talk about what feminism's aims should be, not being a woman. But TERFs are not people i'd be willing to associate with.

It's a good point, and maybe pro-feminist is a better term, or at least less contentious.
