Anonus Watches Dave's Last Late Show

I know that we of the Heap are generally not huge on television, but tonight is David Letterman's last Late Show. In my view, despite some residual appeal, Dave has seen better days. Today's Late Show does not carry any of the renegade, pioneering spirit of his Late Night days, but still, tonight the book closes on an important chapter in the history of American television (cheesy as that sounds).

    I think all the final interviews have already happened, but the show's not over yet so I can't say for sure.

    There were indeed no interview guests.

    I can confirm that it is for real, Jane, unless I've somehow entered into AU's reality through having so much contact with him.

    They cut to Jerry Seinfeld's slightly-annoyed face after she said this line. It made me chuckle.

    The Chris Rock and Tina Fey lines made me chuckle, too.

    That was Larry "Bud" Melman, a.k.a. Calvert DeForest, a regular character of sorts on Dave's show for many years.

    I remember Conan's last episode of the Tonight Show. Made me sad, considering that it was my first exposure to late night talk and I liked the show a lot.

    It did give us Conan on TBS, though. So there's that.
