i saw the first transformers movie at a family member's house because they had the dvd. it was so utterly unmemorable that i don't think i remember a single thing from it except shia labeouf being bad

the mcu is okay. it entertains me. apparently nerds got pissed at joss whedon recently and he left twitter, which mostly just reminds me that i never finished buffy the vampire slayer

batman v superman: not as good a court case title as united states v nine bottles of alleged vinegar looks like it's going to be trying to imitate nolan's batman movies, but not be as good

the suicide squad joker is just plain fucking stupid. also apparently the joker was never even in the suicide squad, which is even more lol

Wait, Will Smith's Deadshot? That's...interesting. Don't think I've ever seen the Fresh Prince take on a morally ambiguous role like that.

But yeah, I care about fidelity to the source when the change actively makes the characters suckier. Like, Will Smith being Deadshot? That's definitely a change; Deadshot's white as anything in the comics. But I'll allow that because it adds something interesting to the character, and because Deadshot has a daughter in the comics and the idea of Willow Smith playing her is hilarious.

But Amanda Waller? Being plus-sized was one of her things. It's why they called her the WALL, besides being a ruthless leader figure. Taking that away diminishes her character because now she's more like everyone else. Same with the new Harley. The original suit was frigging iconic. This one looks like one of Gwen Stefani's cast-offs.

You're right, recently there was some kerfuffle about crediting, specifically how in The Flash TV series one particular character is known by a different name, and thus the original creator isn't credited with the creation of that character. Legally, nobody created the character. It's a mess.

Also, Will Smith has made a lot of pushes in the last ten years or so to assume the persona of a serious actor, and so far I feel like it's working.
