To make up for the loss in power, there are only 4 critical hit stages now, and the top one is motherfucking 100%. If you have a Pokemon with both Focus Energy and either Scope Lens or Razor Claw (or the Super Luck ability), you can crit every single time. If you have a move that drops stats like Superpower and Draco Meteor, you can keep spamming those moves without being punished by stat drops.
A good candidate for this is Kingdra - it's catchable in X and Y and its Sniper ability can boost the effective power of Draco Meteor to 472.5.

Unfortunately, in BW2, it seems you can only get Alakazam via an in-game trade. You can, however, find Abra early on in XY (albeit not very easily), so there's that to look forward to.

Not by level-up, through HM. And it's because they're supposed to be a cross between the frill-necked lizard and the basilisk lizard, the latter of which can actually run across the surface of water.
