Nobody showed up trying to snatch Marvel away from Disney in 2009. Sinclair mulled over outbidding Gannett for Belo, but did not do so, and neither did anybody else. But we had American Greetings trying to block Cookie Jar's acquisition of DIC. We had Relativity trying to outbid Disney for Maker Studios.

Bidding wars over things that are worth owning never seem to happen.

    Belo had a strong reputation as an operator and owned stations in several attractive markets - Dallas and Houston chief among them.

    I was about to say that the title was very wrong.
    That Smurfs lunchbox was VERY worth owning!
