As with many things, I was introduced to the concept by 101 Dalmatians: The Series.
A mental meal is something you imagine eating when you're hungry, of course. I've never done it because I'm irrational and don't often think of alternative solutions to things besides wanting them and wanting them NOW. Also I tend to take snacks places with me. But is it a good solution if I can't get a snack?

Also, drinking water doesn't generally work because your body can tell the difference, but solid foods with high water content (potatoes) work. It's one of those things a good non-fad diet will exploit so your body can start burning fat without feeling like you're starving.
