I don't know about you but I've recently come to love clowns and HATE how society has maligned them in recent years.

So let's talk about clowns! I never as a child thought that clowns were, well, funny, but they just seem to evoke a time when humor was simpler. Stupid fucking racism makes that time not very good but contemporary society is just so cruel to the clown. If only we could have a new Golden Age of Clowning...

to become a clown...it seems so profound and important to me right now

^ more so than other comedians or entertainers? i don't see why that would be the case

i don't know though, the biggest difference that i can tell is that being a clown means making yourself the joke, directing all the ridicule purposefully at yourself and saying 'laugh at me'

it's a job that demands a very thick skin, and i guess i can respect them for that

oh that's reminding the book the beau was reading while i was at his place had a clown on the cover

though it was about a silent comedian

You know, there is something of a joke I can't help but think people are missing when it comes to clowns.

Like, people say "Clowns are scary, Grrr grrr grrr" But maybe that's what they're going for? They were going for a disonounce that threw people off, even making the performance even more surreal as you watch this technicolor painted being perform outlandish physical humor.

My parents did Clan of Fools which is basically Clowns for Christ when they were in college and they made a clown face for me when I was a toddler that is basically a melding of theirs, so clowns have never scared me but I got a huge kick out of scaring my friends in late elementary-high school on halloween just by painting my face with clown white and wearing oversized overalls. like, okay, i am still the weird girl who ties your tie every week after chemistry before lunch on meet days calm down, buddy.
