but people like that don't usually 'like beer' they buy cheap lager and knock it back and couldn't care less about the taste which is too bland to merit consideration
i haven't found many i liked, but i haven't tried many
Guinness is nice, i don't think i've had any other stouts though
Guinness i guess is my go-to drink if i'm not in the mood for cider and my plans for the evening do not involve getting completely shitfaced, which these days they never do
if you dont like beer you are probably drinking the wrong beer, my recommendations are to:
- Never drink any american Beer - drink lots of beer from Belgium, which is the best beer country. - try wheat beer, which tastes like regular beer but better. - try beer with cool flavourings like Lemon Grass beer, or the crazy flavoured beers from belgium (eg. Kriek, framboise lambicus, and ridiculous things like Banana beer) - actually just forget beer and drink cider instead, which is better, and also better if you dont like the alcohol flavour because Kopparberg, rekorderlig etc. just tastes like fruit juice.
Sometimes it's nice just to sit and sip a beer (or a cider, which is my preference) while hanging out with friends.
I think you could replace that "needn't" there with "shouldn't," really. Getting inebriated is not exactly good for your health nor is it a particularly good way to appreciate the taste of a drink. I mean, people drink and that is okay, but I can see no real reason to drink to get drunk.
I apologize if I harp on this a lot, I guess the "getting drunk is fun" kind of mindset just sort of bugs me.
Sunn Wolf, there's actually lots of really good American beer, BUT I don't think much of it ever gets exported. So outside North America, "American beer" is defined as e.g. Budweiser, Michelob, etc, which are really dire examples of the worst of bland beer.
Bleh. Alcohol is so bitter I'd never be able to stomach enough of it to get drunk if I wanted to. Even with the fruity drinks I can't help but think I'd prefer just the juice.
I don't get drunk alone but I will sometimes drink alone, but only in terms of a glass of wine or a measure of good whisky, sipped slowly while e.g. relaxing reading a good book before bed.
More likely, though, I'll do the same with company.
One assumes that fairies and other magical humanoids may have metabolisms that deal efficiently with alcohol. In fact, they may largely run on the stuff.

some people don't like it, or don't want to do it, or can't do it
that's all fine
(do ho ho, me so clever)

Especially not getting drunk alone, which quite apart from the dangers, is just depressing.
evidently Cirno does not agree
i said what i said because i certainly wouldn't have said "shouldn't", but i'm not entirely sure why not.
reasoning: I don't have to think about Mr stupid life
laziness pays off now
Whole glass.
Didn't like it one bit. It tasted like off-taste water, and just left me with an odd, uncomfortable sensation.
Don't remember what it was.
