    I'm not sure what happened to this decade.

    It's almost like I fell asleep around that time -- well, more accurately, around 2005 or so, and only recently awoke.

    I think during that time, some peoiple were born, some people died, some people went on with their lives, some people had first dates, some people got engaged, some people got married, some people got divorced, some people got their first jobs, some people got promoted, some people got laid off, some people retired from their work, some people converted to a different religion, some people moved to a different part of the same country, some people moved to a different country, some people changed their citizenship, some people went to jail, some people were freed from jail, some people turned to a life of crime, some people repented their sins, and some people wasted time on the internet.

    Dividing Time up into units of varying lengths is a curiously human trait. I suppose it's a side-effect of our ability to reflect consciously on our experience and therefore try to "control" this reflection - this clutter of memories and images - in some sense by categorizing it.
