...So. While the premise of this adventure is kind of silly, it is based in a fictional universe that I've thought out with something resembling detail. Just thought I'd make a place in case anyone has questions about the universe, the bear, or the RP. SOP and all that.

That's the main job.

The country's kind of a corrupt hellhole when it comes to government proceedings, so his job occasionally dips into private dick territory, and every once in a while it goes straight into action hero. Whatever it takes to keep the government running without screwing over the hoi polloi.

Robots are a recent invention and very, very rare outside of this one country that we're not in. And they're still fairly militarized, for that matter.

A deliberation on the level of technology in the Bear Universe, which is what I'm calling it until I give it a proper name.

Most of the world runs on technology that's, on average, equivalent to the late 19th century, bolstered by various magical enchantments (we'll discuss magic more when we meet someone with a magic tool). The only country that has large amounts advanced technology would be Cobaltstaat, the aforementioned robot-making country, which lies a fair bit to the east. The advent of technology in Cobaltstaat was accompanied with a closing of borders and increasingly strained relationships with its neighbors, so any advanced technology has to be smuggled out and reproduced in secret. So, anything that gets out of Cobaltstaat usually ends up in the hands of the military. The guy who made Guy's translator escaped from Cobaltstaat, in fact.

Most organizations running under the municipal banner aren't required to have uniforms for all employees. Many organizations only force the lower ranks to wear them. Anyone who gets above a certain rank only has to wear a 'badge of office', which is generally some item of clothing with the organization seal attached to it.

Sewer maintenance in the capital uses grey cloaks with patterns based on ranks and the seal for the clasp. The cloaks are the first line of defense on the job, suffering from sewage overflow to sauce on your hands after lunch. They thus tend to be perpetually filthy, leading many in the lower-class to call sewer workers 'shitcloaks'.

"Grell", a corruption of "mongrel", is the encompassing term for half-human, half-animal hybrids in the Bear Universe. There are many, many different types of grell, and most people only know the varieties that live nearby.

Command of human language varies. About half of them across the board can speak human language in some way or form, though most of them deal with the lower-classes and their vocabulary reflects that. Those who can't due to issues with the vocal chords communicate with others through the Voca language, consisting of clicks, grunts and other vocalizations. Bear does not know Voca.

There are various types of healers in the Bear Universe. Divine ones, magic ones, the occasional scientific one. For those who can't afford these or can't get to them in time, there are Stitchers, who'll patch up your wounds until you can get a proper healing.

Well, Stitchers are also in high-demand among criminals who can't go to a proper healer without risking arrest. So, half-battlefield medics, half-back alley doctors.
