Cardinal Umberto Francisco Carlo: God's Callous Excommunicator
Father Carlo was a cardinal of some renown, an expert in exorcisms, and pious indicter of his own fellow priests' sins. Carlo had dealt with supernatural phenomena before, but nothing could really have prepared him for what would awaken that night in Provence. Following his "mysterious" death, his name would be stricken from the records. Carlo is thought to have had some papal ambitions, but these died with him.
Udo d'Aix: A Grieving Nobleman
The lord of a small castle in Provence, and a distant relative of the French King. Udo lost his wife not long after their second daughter was born. The grief of losing both of his daughters proved too much to bear, and he drank himself to death not many years later. The castle passed back to the crown, and was given to a different branch of the family.
Remilia d'Aix: Blooming Scarlet Flower of Provence
Those bitten by vampires become fully vampiric themselves a variable amount of time after. Remilia's transformation was quick and fortuitous, and more than likely hastened by the stress of what would've been her impending death.
Flandre d'Aix: Little Sister of The Devil
Flandre would later become infamous, but right now, is not much more than a scared little girl determined to save her sister. Flandre is named after the family holding of Flanders. It is an unusual name to be certain, and it would prove a liability at times.
I rather liked how it began and how the priest approached them. Your description of the change was rather well done, as well. I will say my one criticism is how quick the change in Remi's attitude is, but that's my own opinion.
I'm not particularly interested at this point. Not because of your skill, but because the transformation process of a vampire isn't quite my thing. I like what you're doing with it, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm not particularly into the subject material.
I am always interested in the origins of the SDM cast as a whole, so I'll probably be interested later in the story.
More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
Poor, mentally unstable Flan-chan. I wonder if she descended into insanity before or during her vampiric curse? The fact that she was usually locked in the basement suggests that Remi always saw her as a liability, so maybe Flan was always insane. Now that I think about it, I wonder how the sisters acquired their legendary Norse weapons. I wonder if Remi is actually related to Dracula? I think it's implied to be a thing she made up. I wonder how Meiling, a Chinese girl, found her way into their mansion? I'm very curious about how Sakuya, a human (Reimu and Flan eat human!) became the chief maid and most trusted servant of Remi. I especially wonder what Sakuya's mysterious past relationship with Eirin is, and Zun says he will never reveal it! I wonder how/when Remi became friends with Patchy-sama. I like to speculate about these characters.
I do too, which is much the reason I am writing this.
Though, some things I am running with and others I am not. While I was doing plot sketches I briefly tried to make everything "fit" in canon, but it didn't quite work without making the story more convoluted than it will be already, so, as always, everyone's Gensokyo is slightly different.

The poor vampire children, though
But yeah, dark, so far at least.
Assassin poems, Poems that shoot
guns. Poems that wrestle cops into alleys
and take their weapons leaving them dead
But i can see what you were going for, with the switch-like transformation.
