It has nothing to do with Donkey Kong Country at all (save the inclusion of the "Jungle Hijinx" theme as Dawn Savanna's music), but it's also like a dumping ground for everything Nintendo deemed "too weird" for Mario or Zelda. Giant chicken plants, robot elephants with beating hearts, a ballet-dancing panda bear...

Its dev team went on to do the Super Mario Galaxy games, too.
