It's been said that 101 Dalmatians: The Series is neither Art nor is it a subversive masterpiece, despite brimming with absolute bizarreness. Well then. What is?

If you couldn't tell, I am just a tad bit obsessed with the concept of random things being deemed Art lately

Because it's lowest common denominator GARBAGE

    Real masterpieces are more like
  • ULTRA-RAD HACKER REFUGEE FROM THE FUTURE

  • ULTRA-RAD HACKER REFUGEE FROM THE FUTURE
they are if I show them to the right people
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    who are "the right people"
  • ULTRA-RAD HACKER REFUGEE FROM THE FUTURE

    I am glad someone agrees.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
It was also subversive on multiple levels: Setting aside the internal references to some really adult things, the plots were pretty out-there in terms of homage and content, and the whole thing was shown from a child's perspective without any sugarcoating. I loved it.

It was a strange moment when I realized all the parents were parodies of specific types of yuppies.

I'm not much of a Rugrats guy; it has its appeal, but still

I prefer The Ren & Stimpy Show and Rocko's Modern Life

Verve, a division of MGM before they became a zombie
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
seriously though, We're Only in it For the Money is one of the best "subversive" works I ever did encounter
  • We can do anything if we do it together.
I'd argue that the entire career of Beck (particularly early on) is a subversive masterpiece.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I actually had a brief conversation about how weird and implausible Beck's fame was with my father when one of his songs came on in a supermarket.
