This comic is most likely going to be discontinued. I apologize for bumping the thread just to say that, but I thought that any of you who happen to care about it should know.
More optimistically. It will be followed up by a successor project that you will hear more about as it's closer to completion.
Long story short, we both don't have the time to keep up with this amount of comics. I can't write for two and she can't ink for three (as she's starting her own, as well) so we opted to drop Spannith in favor of the up-and-coming project.
Spannith'll have a two-page finale comic that will kinda-sorta tie it in to our next project, which goes by the name of Flip.
Identical to humans from our own world. Comparatively rare on the Flipside, where they are far outnumbered by Witches and Oni (also hairless primates, and sharing a relatively close common ancestor, but otherwise distinct races). Humans are a minority in most nations in the Flipside and have a small kingdom of their own (Terrende). They are capable of interbreeding with Witches, Oni, and (due to their nature) The Changing, but rarely do so. Humans in nations other than Terrende are considered something of a novelty by other species. Most humans on The Flipside are dark-skinned, as Terrende is located partially in a desert. Humans are not born being able to control any type of Magic but can learn it in the rare event that they befriend a being who can and is willing to teach them.
Witches (Homo Arcani)-
Outwardly very similar to humans, Witches are in fact something rather different. Witches on the whole were indeed once humans (or rather, the close ancestors thereof) but the same event that split Earth and the Flipside altered their genetics to give them innate access to and control over Prismaticka, making them inherently magical. Witches are disinclined to create and use technology, as magic makes most of it unnecessary (though this has changed recently to at least some extent), as such most Witch-ruled nations live in a technological level comparable to that of a late medieval or early Renaissance in our own world. Witches are usually thin, and are physically weak, their muscles having atrophied somewhat over the generations. Height range in witches is significantly wider than it is in human beings. Full-grown Witches can be anywhere from 5 to 8 feet tall. Eye and hair color also vary widely, with shades such as emerald green and deep purple being rather common, and rainbow and even transparent hair being rare but not unheard of. Skin color is mostly a similar gamut to humans, though literal black or white skin is possible. The most drastic difference between Witches and Humans however, is that all Witches appear, to a human anyway, female. They are not so, as sexes do indeed exist in Witches, but many of the physical distinguishing features have vanished. Leaving really, only genitals to tell the two genders apart. Witches are the most common species on the Flipside.
Vampires- Vampires are not a seperate species but an organism resulting from a mutation in Witches. Vampires require a constant supply of hemoglobin to stay healthy. They are universally frail, poor magic users, and pale-skinned.
Spirits-
The creatures known as Spirits are not undead at all. Rather, they are humanoids related to The Changing and descended distantly from jellyfish. Their light composition gives them the appearance of being ethereal, and their ghostly floating only serves to add to the confusion. There are two main cultures of Spirits, Northern and Southern, Northern Spirits often live among Witches or Humans, making their livings as fortune tellers, or entertainers. Southern-culture Spirits prefer to live away from other civilizations except rarely, and often have descriptive names (such as Moving-Slowly) in contrast to the simple, monosyllibaic names of the Northern Spirits (a famous example being Siin, one of the old Prima of Dorado).
Oni-
Oni are a short, stout race of humanoids that are, like Witches, descended from Humans. Oni have no nations of their own, usually either keeping to a tribe or clan, or joining the civilized societies of another race. Most Oni appear male, much as most Witches appear female. Oni have a wide range of skin and eye colors, running the chromatic spectrum. But most Oni’s hair is either black or white.
Sakuna-
Sakuna are, in short, sentient plants. Their origin is not entirely certain, but most Sakuna resemble large flowers with single eyes in the middle. Sakuna, like Witches, are born with an inherent ability to manipulate Prismaticka, Sakuna are rather mysterious, as their primary method of communication is by scented pheromones, so they rarely speak to other races (though they can, indeed speak) and when they do they often seem odd. Their attitudes having been described as anywhere from “mentor-like” to “condescending”. Sakuna are not widespread, and many live solitary lives. Some Sakuna have a fascination with our world and have made attempts to contact it.
The Changing-
Shapeshifters. Look rather like vaguely humanoid blobs in their natural form.
this post will be updated if/when I feel like it with new stuff.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Very nice so far. I like the Witches, Spirits, and Sakuna, and I'm curious to know more about the Changing once you've come up with more stuff for them.

The Witches entry had a good amount of detail to it. I can tell that took a lot of effort. Not sure what to say in particular.
I like how the Spirits have two different sets of cultures. Complexity like that in fantasy races is always a nice thing to have.
And the Sakuna are an interesting choice for the resident non-humanoid race. I'm not quite sure what I like about them outside of silly reasons, but noting how other people perceive them was a good touch.

So Jenny is the katana-sandals lady? Okay, cool.
And don't worry. If I were to write down all I'd thought about for possible characters in any of my stories, most of them would be about that short.
And because I am saying "screw it" a lot tonight, here's a character info dump. Some is missing because SPOILERS. Even if they were, it would likely no longer be accurate by the time the comic starts.
Jennifer Hannover- Fairly average girl in-between high school and college with a tiny, tiny twinge of witch blood in her family. Involved in a car accident that sends her into a coma and is sent to the Flipside, where she is currently stranded. On the whole, this does not faze Jenny as much as the excitement of being on the Flipside does. Jenny is easily amused and rather playful. As well as something of a nerd.
Yigh-Simh - Sakuna with a fascination with Earth. Makes contact with Jenny as soon as she arrives.
Om- An Oni with an unknown relationship to Yigh-Simh that he has ordered to protect Jenny. Om is loyal to his new charge, but often exasperated by her antics.
Athana Numan, “The Golden Alchemist” - A Witch alchemist, and one of the few Witches at all friendly to humans.
Uxe, “The Monochrome Magician” -
Gilda Gravenhage - A teenage human spellcaster who leads the Gravenhage Gang. Considered by most to be little more than a petty thief. Totally not a Marisa expy. Takes her name from the section of the city she resides in.

It's a Legendary Pokémon from Diamond/Pearl. Not one of my personal favorites, but the name of the (I'm assuming) Spirit character has a very strong resemblance.

New update coming either today or tomorrow.
Update.
This one is a bit more flat out weird than funny.
Make sure to read the author comment if you happen to be a fan. :)
Yes.
Unless you count subatomic particles. But fuck those guys.

Huh?
Imipolex: Um...sorry?
edit: There will be a final comic, as well as a poster relating to our next project. Not necessarily in that order.

No, she's working with me on my next project too.

Necro!
I am told by a very reliable source that a preliminary sketch of a character from our new comic will shortly be made available to the general public.
I love pretending I have fans.
Um....may want to read the post above my last. >.>
SKETCH INBOUND
this is Athana Numan, she is an alchemist and computer programmer equivalent.
No, but her outfit is nearly identical to Patchouli's (that is deliberate), which is why she looks like one.
A colourized version will be posted at some point too.
your protagonist, ladies and gentlemen.
SAAAAAANDALS
the sandals are important because....
sandals.
I am told that this version of the picture looks better.
Sandals are indeed pretty bitchin'
I want to post worldbuilding stuff here but am not sure if this is a good idea.
eh. Fuck it.
RANDOM SPECIES-RELATED INFODUMP
Vampires are not a seperate species but an organism resulting from a mutation in Witches. Vampires require a constant supply of hemoglobin to stay healthy. They are universally frail, poor magic users, and pale-skinned.

They will probably not show up much, hence the short entry.
Though if they do I will be forced to flesh them out more.
What in particular did you like about those three you mentioned if I can ask? I would like to take the good parts and multiply them, you see.
One of the main characters is a Sakuna.
Not a ton of character elaboration, I know.
Yes.
Her name is Jennifer Hannover.
There is symbolism there. Stupid, stupid symbolism that is no longer really relevant given the character redesign Jenny's undergone, but oh well.
Good job, Imipolex.
