I sent in ballots for King K. Rool and Dixie Kong. It does not seem like there are really hard and fast rules about how many times you can vote, but I get the impression that Sakurai and co. may care more about quality of votes than sheer quantity.
I supported K. Rool and Dixie mostly because I think they would be interesting additions to Smash as well as give DK more representation in games that do not have a ton of DK stuff in them already. Their passionate fans (especially in K. Rool's case), definitely influenced my decision to vote for them. Playing Tropical Freeze probably had something to do with it too; I really enjoyed that game.
Also, I have a message for all those Heapers with access to Smash 3DS/Wii U: I think it would be fun to play together. Feel free to let me know if you would be up for Smash sometime.
We may never really see a breakdown of the results.
That said, Sakurai did publish the results of earlier Japan-only polls that were done before the development of some of the other Smash games, so I guess it is possible.
I have two guesses: 1. They're gonna surprise everyone and show off more than one character from the Smash poll 2. The character(s) will be well received but will be from a franchise I don't give a hoot about so I won't be particularly Hype
Haha, well...this is honestly a worst case scenario for me in terms of new fighters. I could rant here, but there really is no reason to do so, so I think I am just going to try to do something else besides thinking about Smash for a while.
I am happy that Tails, Knuckles, and Geno are going to be Mii costumes though.
Also, I am glad for fans of Corrin and Bayonetta. It is definitely really cool when a character you like a lot makes it to Smash. I know I was overjoyed when Olimar got in.
I never heard of Corrin before today, but it's cross-promotion for the next FE game so it makes sense they'd put them in.
Cloud is a lot of fun to play so far. The Limit Break mechanic is really strong, like Mac's KO punch except you don't have to use it or lose it, and indeed if you do just hold on to it you're generally stronger, and the actual knockout can be at a distance or up close.
That's just how the checks and balances system for fighting games works. Every strat has to have a counter. In Robin's case, it's reflectors and pockets.

I don't know, just adding these alternative versions of the same character

I would encourage you all to go vote if you have not already.

Unrelated note: Looking at the music menu, one of Norfair's least likely to play songs is... Norfair.
