Their shell goes all the way around their bodies, They are not in a half shell at any point in the show.

    The "half shell" part makes me think that they're being prepared for eatin'.  Which is just wrong.  I don't want no ninja turtle soup for dinner.

    They fudged it for the sake of alliteration, naturally.

    Because "Heroes in an Entire Shell" just doesn't sound as nice.

    I guess one could say that they're technically in a half-shell and they are just also in another half-shell, and they never said that the turtles are heroes in only a half-shell.

    so it's technically correct
