Honestly, you'd think Eridan would be more of an awesome cartoon villain given that he's an aristocrat and a racist, but no, he's just a horrible whiny bitch. :P
Also...I watched [S] Seer: Descend again. And I think I cried through most of it because of the music.
Really, I've always found Eridan to be enjoyably realistic, from a human standpoint. He's one of the few trolls/humans who you can look at and say "yeah, he's probably an actual 13-year-old". His self-absorbed reactions to his problems evoke the immaturity of adolescence. Compared to Vriska and Gamzee, Eridan represents the worst parts of human adolescence while Vriska represents the worst of troll adolescence. And Gamzee, well, he represents clowns.

Caliborn's art skills have improved. also he is still the funniest character hands down
Someone on Tumblr pointed out that he likely traced the picture if Jake and Dirk.
That being said, it's still a huge improvement.
What strikes me as interesting here is that "if you try hard enough, you will succeed" is usually something of a mantra and formula for a hero to follow. Interesting that a villain is basically forced to go this route to overcome his own shortcomings.
You're a loner who has terrible social skills. You consider most of the world’s population to be disturbing or otherwise repulsive. You have only one close friend, whom you’re tentatively dating, and she means the world to you.
A few weeks ago, you told her that you want you all to take your relationship to another level; her response is to dump you and start dating someone you don't like. You get in a fight with her new boyfriend and he cleans your clock. Now, you're heartbroken and lonely and, due to being generally intolerable, almost no one's willing to give you the time of day. You spend the next few weeks alone, pursuing self-defeating activities. When you finally join the few people whom you might call friends and attempt to do something constructive, this powerful demon comes in and tries to kill everyone, forcing you to flee.
You’ve been hiding out in an old lab for the past seven hours. All attempts to socialize with your fellow victims (as well as two girls whom you met while hiding) have ended in miserable failure. Your world consists of fifteen other people, and they all think you’re a joke. Your miserable social life influences your perception of your dilemma. You decide that there’s no point in hiding and decide to join the demon. However, partially out of old feelings and partially out of selfishness, you decide to invite your ex-friend to join you.
You ask her. She disowns you. Her boyfriend attacks you. You now have no reason to have any sympathy for anyone you’ve been contact with.
I thought Karkat on first read myself, but it fits Eridan better.
Also, Bowman is totally my headcanon voice for John (and he'd make a good Karkat, too, based on what I've seen of him on YouTube), Radiation is Eridan (because Catchyegrabber). I'm not sure who I like for the rest.

I got that it was Eridan right away.
I think it's a pretty good representation that paints Eridan a little more sympathetically. Of course, when one actually reads the parts with Eridan, it becomes apparent that he's not exactly just a victim of circumstance or was forced to go this route simply because nobody liked him.
Yeah, that whole thing can best be summed up by "Eridan's life as viewed by Eridan". It was a challenge I imposed on myself, to show the train of thought that went through Eridan's head right before he started killing people.
Wrote it because a Homestuck liveblog that I'm following (by Mousa the 14 from the old site) had just gotten to Eridan's killing spree. Earlier, he had been accosted by Vriska apologists right after the part where Vriska goes god-tier (he really does not like Vriska), and he acknowledged their complaints. So, I decided to do something similar for Eridan. In hindsight, I think I did it partially because I wanted him to publically answer it, which would get more people to read it.

You have little doubt their victory was because of their leader, a great heroine, the TENTACLETHERAPIST. From what she recorded, it seems the group had very little knowledge of what they were getting into. And yet they appear to have been the only of their kind to have risen to the challenge in a session stacked heavily against them. You are convinced her leadership was the difference.
It would be nice to have the chance to talk to her. Alas, she's likely been dead for millennia. Only the incomplete record of a long forgotten quest remains.
On the other hand, if you were to discover her quest ended in failure, it might be somewhat disillusioning.
But that thought never crossed your mind.
Man, If Kanaya only knew that not only she'd get to meet her in person eventually, but they'd end up dating...

Like I said, stupid, selfish reasons.

Yeah, Jake mentioned where he got the other code from, hence her yelling at him for re-gifting a gift from fucking Caliborn.
