A matter'a'fact, Kankri kind of reminds me of Eridan. Completely ineffectual when achieving his lofty goals, an inability to empathize with those around him, an extra piece of clothing that emphasizes his blood color...
I want the game and the tarot cards and a tote 8ag and a scalem8.
I do not have the money to get these things (well other than the game if I get the less expensive "you get a download link" type options) unless they end up in the store for individual (and afforda8le) purchase and I can 8uy them as I feel I can.
Actually he says that he got rid of so many trolls because 1) they were not significant or developed enough and had no place in the story after Act 5, and 2) trolls murdering each other amuses him. He insists that despite what people want, lots of characters must die for the plot to continue. When you really think about it, even the very beginning of the plot relied on mass death.
I still think that the whole "Murdertrap All Up On the Asteroid" plot is a weak spot in the whole scheme of things.
My problem isn't that he killed off a heckuva lot of trolls. It's that he created a bunch of characters for the sole purpose of being one-dimensional jokes that die for the sake of improving characters who he actually cares about.
In a way, the "murdertrap on an asteroid" is a semi-self-contained plot on its own, really, structured like a tongue-in-cheek slasher horror. Much as I like Equius, Tavros and Vriska, that kind of story has to have victims or you lose the suspense.
Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
Andrew does not run a tight story. In fact, this is anything but. He strings us along from story centerpiece to story centerpiece with jokes, amusing dialogues between outrageous characters, speculation, and pop culture references.
And that's fine. We move through story at our own silly little place, reading and watching and playing.
That said, although many characters have died, none of the main characters died senselessly, as each fell to their demise through faults in their own personality that could not or would not change. Additionally, even if someone is dead doesn't mean they can't still be important.
Still hoping Vriska and Tavros will get to fuck shit up, and fully expecting Hussie to thwart their attempts unless not doing so will cause maximum inconvenience and frustration to everybody.
I liked Nepeta and Equius. They were my two favorite trolls. They were interesting characters who had a great dynamic and who could have carried a standalone story. Nepeta having a crush on Karkat was a stupid idea, though.
If Hussie likes killing off characters so much, why not Lord English, Jack Noir, or the Condescense?

Aliroz: Because they're the villains. Without the villains, there are no raised stakes, no clear threats. We need the villains to propel the story, and defeat them or slay them at the climax.
Frosty: You misunderstand what I'm trying to say. Vriska died, yes, but she entered the dreambubble afterlife and may yet prove important.
Because so far, absolutely everything has been important. Including - no - especially the rabbit.
Speaking of Kankri, his portrayal is similar to how I view a lot of these social justice blogger types, so his inclusion and criticism is kind of satisfying.
^^ Huh, funny. I found him to be more of a jerk than Eridan.
I mean, Eridan can be self-centered, but Cronus seems to be completely incapable of caring about anything that doesn't help him. Say what you want about how Eridan treated Feferi, but he did care for her (even if it was in a twisted way that eventually resulted in a killing spree). And he had the decency to loathe Sollux openly rather than secretly, like Cronus did to Mituna.
A matter of fact, how people treat Mituna is a good measure of their character.
Gamzee remains my least favorite character, but Cronus has replaced him as most punchable.
I'm kinda mixed on this update. There were a lot of things that kept me from fully enjoying it; the tumblr analogues are getting so heavy-handed as to be irritating at this point.
Greaser Eridan makes me giggle, and his accent is even weirder. But yeah, he's also even more of a prick than Eridan ever was. It's like someone smooshed together Johnny Bravo and Strong Sad!
Cronus is my second most -needs-a-kick-in-the-shins-with-steel-toed-boots- character in Homestuck, right between Gamzee and Jack Noir.
I really don't think that Kankri's bullying of Cronus has contributed all that much to Cronus's behavior. I get the impression that Cronus just doesn't care about anyone else.
Not the character I dislike the most. That honor belongs to Dirk Strider.
Out of everyone in the update, Kurloz interested me the most, though I don't think I'd count any of them among my favorites. Porrim, Kankri, and Latula are stiff competition.
I really want to see what Kurloz is up to, especially considering he seemed to be present at (responsible for?) so many important events we've just learned about.
My favourite pre-Scratch trolls are Meenah and Porrim.
I don't dislike Gamzee in the same way that I dislike Cronus. Gamzee is horrible, but he's also clearly batshit insane.
Cronus is simply a weak character who wants the approval of others mainly because he's desperate to get laid, and takes out his frustrations on Mituna, whom he has absolutely no respect for. He has, as far as we've seen, no redeeming characteristics whatsoever.
@ Krakers: I dislike him because he manipulated Jake into an unwanted kiss, and thus, a first move in a relationship. That's an extremely passive-aggressive way to conduct yourself; and unwanted kissing is seriously icky.
Threatening your best friend with your own death if he doesn't give you want you romantically want? That's all kinds of wrong.

You know, my nation's currency value is a good tad higher than the USD. I think I'll put in just a little more.
God, we're growing old.

Fun fact: I thought Jade broke up with Jaspers at first.
...damn it Andrew, stop putting out things that I want.

Does Hussie have some compulsion to kill off characters?

Imagine The Chronicles of Narnia if C.S. Lewis had had Hussie's drive to kill off characters for no reason.

I don't think I need to tell you this. ::::P

Hide Your Women and Children.
It seems like that was intentional, given the last few lines of the flash.
But yeah, Mituna is mostly incomprehensible, and I'm sure that's deliberate.
Is it bad that I kind of feel sorry for Cronus? He's easily the most repulsive character so far, but Kankri's bullying can't be helping.

I'm not sure if he's more dangerous, but he's certainly more obnoxious. I think he's the most unlikable character so far.

And I feel 8ad for Mituna, poor kid messes up his 8rain trying to help everyone and then gets treated like that. ::::(
