Indeed. I want to see how Jake handles this particular development.

Also, if Homestuck had to have a proper end-credits song for some reason, what should it be? My choice would be "Chain of Prospit", but I'm wondering what else people would like.

I'd like if it was "Temporal Shenanigans".  If it wasn't long enough they could follow it with "I'm a Member of the Midnight Crew" (preferably Morton's 1909 version).
  • I think I scared Justice laughing so hard at that. Especially the Nic Cage ref.
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
You don't even need to troll Jake.

Just leave some hooks and line around. He'll do the rest himself.

    This was golden.

So, besides that revealing insight into Jake's head, we got to learn some things about the classes and aspects. I guess Pages are like Magikarp, which explains Tavros.

    Upderp.

What a nice little throwback. You fuckers better appreciate it.

I'd imagine Jack's Jailbreak adventure would involve for less urinating and defication, and much more stabbing.

  • Exactly how many panels do you want this to go on for? Over 9000? Nobody wants that. Nobody even wants to hear the phrase "over 9000."

Heh, sorry I took the good pun first.

But anyway, we can't forget about the apple juice / piss and fedoraFreak.

I bet whatever's in that pumpkin is amazingly useless.

Let me tell you. About Fallen London.
I'm guessing a cake or a fancy hat.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be something genuinely useful, the Droll's actually pretty competent.
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
    Huh knives.

I guess since Droll knew that Noir loved knives, that he would want a shitload of knives.

Good for killing, bad for getting outta jail.

    "the Droll's actually pretty competent."

It really weird to categorize...it's like competency hidden beneath idiocy...

Or maybe it makes more sense the other way around. He's clearly an idiot, but somehow he gets the job done...

I guess he's somehow remarkably hard to figure out.

So many things he does be accident, and then he comes out of the blue and sets up elaborate murder situation that involves explosives, and it works without a hitch.

Also, Jack mentioned urination...though now he has knives AND sharp/pointy things. I have a feeling his escape will involve someone being showed his stabs... even if it's completely unnecessary to stab them.

    More callbacks. :D

I think these latest with Jack are the most I've enjoyed a series of updates in a while now.

I reread Jailbreak pretty recently.  I think I'd have appreciated it more the first time if I'd approached it as an old forum game rather than a webcomic.

This was the point where I considered stopping reading Homestuck on first readthrough (I didn't because I figured it must have something going for it or it wouldn't be so popular).

I love the Midnight Crew stuff.

Something about how those parts are written (and Problem Sleuth) are really appealing to me.
  • Problem Sleuth is boss and deserves so much more credit than it gets nowadays.

It already had quite a following before Homestuck, didn't it?  Nothing on the current scale, but still.

Problem Sleuth rocks.  And yeah, I really like the Midnight Crew stuff as well.
  • Jack's starting to remind me of Black Mage from 8-Bit Theater.
  • It's 4:20 somewhere.
After reading the narration, he reminds me of Carl.

  • I archive 8inged Pro8lem Sleuth 8efore archive 8inging Homestuck, and re-read it during the pre-EOA5 hi8us.

    I love it.

    Bloody update.

It's parts like this that make me hope for a dedicated Midnight Crew story after Homestuck.

I could use more Hearts Boxcars. He gets offed a little to quickly in Homestuck...time and time again.
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
I don't know, Hearts Boxcars stayed quite long in his original appearance in the intermission.

This is true. I just find it sad he got offed pretty quickly in both set of the Kids' sessions

    Upd8!

...Poor Jake. Although he's doing better than I would've thought.
  • It's 4:20 somewhere.
I see what you did there.
  • Living tissue over endoskeleton.
I really like the image of Aranea just wandering around Jake's room as he tries to say stuff.

Oh hey, Spider-Island. In which the people of Manhatten wake up one morning, get bitten by bed-bugs, and receive powers similar to what Spider-Man possesses.

A pretty good comic event, I have to say.
  • It's 4:20 somewhere.
    Aranea is pretty damn chill.

    image

Anyone else think that if Jake's hand was just a little to the left, it'd look like he was jacking her off?
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
You have a dirty mind, Gelzo.
  • It's 4:20 somewhere.
You probably wouldn't think it an especially dirty one if you could read minds.

    Or browse 4chan.
  • Living tissue over endoskeleton.
...but this flashback takes place in 2008 and Spider-Island happened last year!
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
Betty Crocker is an immortal alien empress pariah from the universe before this one.

Guy Fieri is a Chief Justice and the Antichrist.

ICP are the twin presidents of the United States of Miracles.

If Spider-Island was published in 2008 instead of 2011, I think we can excuse it.
  • It's 4:20 somewhere.
Dave also linked Miracles to Gamzee, which was post-Reckoning.

But anyway, dream memories tend to mix things in from different times and places. In no way should this seem like a continuity problem.

    Heh.

Though I find it unlikely anyone could beat up Dave, unless they had a large group of people who had some serious combat training. Someone who had been trained since they where an infant and could combat teleport does not sound like an easy victory.

I wonder how well schools can monitor what's in a Sylladex. I guess if they could make sure Dave didn't have a sword and other kids had stuff like umbrellakind and fistkind assigned to their strife specibus, then he could be outmatched.

I doubt Andrew would bother to detail this.

I just figure picking on the kid who has to save food in his closet because his brother filled their fridge with swords is probably not a great idea...
