She's a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, and her father is a member of the Maryland State Senate. Both father and daughter are Republicans, but they disagreed on a recent bill to ban homosexual conversion therapy. She supported the bill; her father opposed it.
It seems her father may have been involved in trying to get her to undergo this therapy; she hinted that this was the case, while her father denies it.
Both the House of Delegates and the State Senate have passed the bill. It now goes to the governor's desk.
